Trauma cleanup covers the biohazard aftermath of a death, violent incident, or serious accident – the blood, bodily fluids, and contaminated material that need to be removed, disposed of properly, and the space returned to a safe, livable condition. It's not a job for standard cleaning crews, since it involves bloodborne pathogens and requires specific handling under OSHA and state biohazard regulations.
Families and property owners in Ligonier, IN call us after a death in the home, a violent crime, a serious accident, or any incident that leaves behind blood or bodily fluids. Sometimes it's the property owner making the call, sometimes it's a family member who can't face going back into the space themselves, and sometimes it's a landlord who needs the unit made safe before it can be rented again.
We start with a full assessment of the affected area to understand the scope of contamination, then contain the space to prevent cross-contamination while we work. Contaminated material – flooring, drywall, furniture, anything that can't be fully decontaminated – gets removed and bagged following biohazard disposal protocols. Remaining surfaces are cleaned and treated with EPA-registered disinfectants, and we run deodorization equipment to address any lingering odor from the incident.
Cost depends on the size of the affected area, how far contamination has spread, and whether structural material needs to be removed and replaced. In many cases, homeowners insurance or state victim compensation funds cover some or all of the cost – we'll walk you through what's typically covered and help with documentation where we can.
If you're dealing with a trauma scene in your Ligonier, IN property, you don't have to face it alone. Call (833) 326-1718 for immediate, confidential help.
